Nesting is the placement of one or more designs inside the milling blank, including alignment, sinter pins or holding bars and spacing. Good nesting maximizes blank utilization and keeps every surface machinable. Nesting errors such as colliding parts, insufficient spacing or badly placed bars at the margin line produce scrap despite flawless individual designs.

What must be settled before nesting?

That every single file is valid and millable. A blank full of unchecked cases multiplies the risk: one defective case can stop the entire job.
