The margin line is the line where the restoration meets the prepared tooth. In the design data its quality decides the later fit: interrupted, ragged or extremely thin run-outs lead to open margins, rework or remakes. Margin line defects usually originate in the scan or the preparation and, without a dedicated check, only surface in production.
